Feasibility of Processing Hot-Melt Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive (HMPSA) with Solvent in the Lab

Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive (HMPSA) is an environmentally benign which typically processed without solvent in industries. However, casting solution method commonly used for experimental purposes the lab convenience. Therefore, seven types of with different polarities, including toluene as most solvent, were investigated this work to study feasibilities. Quick bond strength and holding power tested solvents weight percent prepared solutions. Through viscosity measurement, thermal analysis, compositional correlation between chosen performance was further explored. It found that differences obtained HMPSA treated a variety due physical reasons instead chemical reactions, similar polarity (e.g., tetrachloride, octane) should be considered option because polymer chain relaxation could maintained original treatment.
